Fashion has been waiting for an elegant sophistication that combines the allure of ageless style and the modern femininity the new generation crave. Balenciaga flawlessly combines the two to create a style that will make any woman feel… desired. There is something so simple yet complex about the Fall 2009 Balenciaga collection which makes the eye glide over the perfect silhouette of the feminine form.

We see tones of the forties and late sixties with fluid satin, printed silk and velvet which give an aura of luxury with an eye to the future. We see the fragility of these fabrics teamed with the power of shoulders which adds an 80’s Joan Collins twist with the demure forties and the drape waist.

I am a dedicated Lanvin follower but Nicolas Ghesquiere has pushed Balenciaga right up there to become a house of reinvention for future individuality while still keeping the sophistication of a parisian icon.

To some fashion is throw away culture of cheap garments processed in countries that couldn’t careless about the detail. To others, designers and genuine houses of chic style are artists that create masterpieces to make every woman feel like a queen. The thought, time and endless pursuit of perfection make them timeless pioneers of sensual delight. Balenciaga can claim to be up there with the best of the best.
