The 80’s and the king and queen of pop gel flawlessly in the Spring/Summer 2009 Balmain collection. Rocking to vintage Madonna the show was full of Michael Jackson styled drummer boy jackets and sequined studded dresses encapsulating the bling and rock chick 80’s glamour perfectly. Madonna’s 80’s style was also included with lace white dresses and ankle boots.

Christophe Decarnin’s Balmain opened the Paris fashion week which helped to inject the much needed adrenalin into the coming week. The 80’s theme was transformed into wearable modern day chic by the parisian couture skills of Decarnin.

Looking ahead at this glamourous fashion house, the Autumn/Winter 2009/10 collection features tight body clinging dresses encrusted with Swarovski crystal, chain wrapped black leather and suede boots with sliver buckles. Michael Jackson was seen running errands before his untimely death even wearing the Balmain zebra print crystal encrusted T-shirt.

Make sure you incoporate alittle of the Balmain magic in your wardrobe this summer. And, as one of the most copied collections, the high street is teaming with similar styles but with more economical price tags. We will be keeping an eye Balmain to see if it manages to get up there with Versace in the glamour fashion hall of fame.
