June 5th saw the launch of the HOME Project. A documentary film directed by Yann Arthus-Bertrand (The Earth From Above), produced by Luc Besson (Elzevir Films and EuropaCorp) and sponsored by PPR. Filmed in over 54 countries and taking 217 days to film, the documentary is a true reflection of the forces behind global warming and it’s implications which will effect us all. Shot only from the air, the film highlights the extraordinary and devastating effect humans have had on the planet since the argricultural revolution. All profits from the film will go to www.goodplanet.org an organisation founded by Yann Arthus-Bertrand which is committed to raising awareness and educating the public about the envirnment.
François-Henri Pinault, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of PPR: “Our support is also above all in the efforts of all the PPR Group’s branches and brands and the involvement of our 88,000 employees in the service of the film’s goals: using images and commentary to make us understand that each of us has a responsibility towards the planet, and that we can each act in our own way”.
Yves Saint Laurent has created a line of limited edition T-shirts to be sold in selected boutiques to coincide with the launch of the film. Made from 100% organic cotton, the T-shirts are emblazoned with the slogan ‘Save The Planet, Save Yourself’.
Alexander McQueen has also lent a hand by designing a limited edition scarf. Only 200 have been made for selected boutique stores globally. The design depicts a manipulated photographic version of a dying earth morphing into a skull. Profits from both YSL’s T-shirts and Alexander McQueen’s scarf with be donated to www.goodplanet.org.
