Men’s Wear Summer 2009: Top 10 Hit List

Submitted by Jason Stringer on June 21, 2009 – 15:00 pmOne Comment

Men’s fashion trends are always rather slower to evolve than women’s, but don’t fear, we have all the latest looks to style it up for summer. The mood has taken on a classy and even extravagant look for summer 2009 and for the more informal, dinner jackets with casual trousers.

Suits and dinner jackets are in almost every collection. Think masculine, sharp tailoring. There is a different take for all occasions, from skinny suits to classy double breasted. Wear a dinner jacket with casual trousers for a dressed down style.

GUCCILOUIS VUITTONGIORGIO ARMANI

Wide legged Trousers. Airy and roomy cottons and linens make this not only pure chic, but great for the hot summer months. Maybe a little on the daring for some, but these look great with tailored dinner jackets or simple fitted t-shirts.

BOTTEGA VENETAVERSACEROBERTO CAVALLI

Ties. Pair this with polo shirts and cardigans as well as suits and dinner jackets. Add bright blues and pinks to more conservative occasions for a contemporary look.

GIORGIO ARMANICALVIN KLEINDOLCE & GABBANA

Trench Coats. Functional for summer and a hot trend. These have been around for a few years already, but the look is timeless. Classy blacks and nudes, or go for a shade of blue to hit the trend perfectly.

JIL SANDERBURBERRY PRORSUMDSQUARED²

Shorts or Cut-Offs. Cropped trousers are always a safe bet if you’re not a shorts guy and the best urban look, save the short shorts for the beach or back garden. The catwalks were teaming with them, mix in a shirt, tie and cardigan to get the glam edge.

MICHAEL KORSLOUIS VUITTOND&G

Plunging Neckline. Plunging vests are the best way to go. Layer different clashing colours to get the look. Try light knits for the evenings, great with suits and jackets.

VERSACEETROBURBERRY PRORSUM

Cardigans. Bright colours, try cobalt or aqua blues to achieve the catwalk look. Perfect with shirts and ties.

GUCCIMISSONIHERMÉS

Embroidery. On suits and jackets as well as ties and jeans. Adds a little flare to any outfit and completes the summer trend. Gucci and Burberry Prorsum had this all over their collections.

GIVENCHYALEXANDER MCQUEENJAF SIMONS

Floral prints. Not quite Bermuda shorts, try a little more subtle and go for shorts and shirts with simple ties and cardigans. Gucci and Missoni got it right for the classy style.

GUCCIMISSONIJOHN VARVATOS

All shades of blue. Everywhere and on every item of clothing. You can’t go wrong with this trend!

DIOR HOMMELANVINDOLCE & GABBANA
